What is Compounding?

Compounding is a process using modern and innovative technologies to produce medications that are not commercially available. These products are custom made to meet an individual patient's needs, as determined by your physician. Pharmacists make medications from scratch using raw chemicals, powders and specialized equipment. Examples of compounded prescriptions include BHRT (Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy), testosterone and progesterone capsules, gels and suppositories, boric acid suppositories and dermatology preparations.

A compounding pharmacy solves problems related to medicines that have unpleasant taste (through our Flavor Rx service), strengths that are not commercially available, or for greater ease to administer to the patient. You can also visit the PCCA site and IACP site for more information.

Our compounding pharmacists are here Monday through Thursday, 9-5. If you are a physician or veterinarian and need more information or have any questions, feel free to call us at (845) 782-2260. We will ship anywhere.
